i forgot to mention that i carry a whistle and a four inch ceramic stone to keep the edge on my blades sharpened. And as far as clothing goes…i wear the same clothes during the whole trip except for maybe an extra pair of quality socks. my nalgene bottle was actually carried away by a bear in the night and has teeth marks to prove it, i found it 50 yards from my tent. i usually dont keep a fire at night because i go to bed as soon as it gets dark so i could wake up at dawn. i have had the tent for about 8 years and because i am anal about caring for it, it is still in almost perfect condition, yes, sierra designs get a thumbs up from me! without food my pack weighs around twenty pound or less. as far as ‘luxury’ items goes i might bring binoculars, my telephone to use as a camera, i’m not big on luxury items because the luxury i cherish most is being away from the city in the woods. nor do i carry a daypack because i usually spend the entire day going from point A to point B or just resting at my campsite.
